This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit https://www.junrongli.com (the "Site"), a personal blog run by Junrong Li, and how that information is used. The Site is designed to collect as little as possible.
Information collected
Visitor statistics
The Site uses a lightweight statistics service (stats.woosaas.com) to understand which pages are read. For each page view it records the page address, the referring page (if your browser provides one) and your screen resolution. As with any web request, the service also receives your IP address and browser user agent. This data is used only to produce aggregate visit statistics. The statistics service does not set cookies and is not used for advertising or to build profiles of individual visitors.
Server logs
The Site is hosted by Hostinger. Like most web hosts, their servers automatically log technical information about requests, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used for security and to keep the Site running.
Information you send
If you contact me by email, I receive your email address and anything you choose to include in your message. I use it only to reply to you.
Cookies and browser storage
The Site does not use cookies. It stores two small items in your browser:
- your light or dark theme choice (local storage), so the Site remembers it on your next visit;
- the page you came from (session storage), so the "back" button on a post returns you to the right place. This is cleared when you close the tab.
Neither item is sent to any server. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
How information is used
Information collected through the Site is used to:
- operate, secure and maintain the Site;
- understand which content is useful and improve it;
- respond to messages you send.
Your information is never sold, rented or shared for marketing purposes.
Third-party services and links
Fonts and other assets are served from the Site itself. Share buttons on posts are plain links: nothing is sent to social networks unless you click one, at which point that network's own privacy policy applies. The Site also links to other websites that I do not control, and I am not responsible for their privacy practices.
Data retention
Visitor statistics and server logs are kept only for as long as they are useful for the purposes above. Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, and similar laws in other countries, you may ask to access the personal information held about you and to have it corrected or deleted. To make a request, email contact@junrongli.com.
Children
The Site is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes take effect when they are published on this page, and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
